Hi to all Cairns Dancers,
No doubt a lot of you will
already have heard that we have decided to discontinue the Friday night
dances. This is a decision that Ann and I have agonised over for the last
three dance months. We still love doing the dance but the support just isn't
there any more; the attendance figures over the last three dances have meant
that we have lost money on them and we don't feel that we should have to
subsidise the costs of holding them.
When we started out, it was
with the aim to stimulate the dance scene in Cairns, which quite frankly was
rather lack lustre, to say the least. Now there seems to be quite a number
of functions on every Friday and Saturday night. Last Friday night, our
dance night, there was three functions on and of course there are only so
many dancers to go around. We are pleased with the dance scene now and feel
that we have accomplished what we set out to do in the first place.
We are not ruling out dances
in the future; if there are suitable times later on we will hold the
occasional dances then and see how they go.
Our thanks go to the loyal
hard core 50 or so dancers who have supported us all the time and also, of
course, to every one who has attended our dances. We hope that you have
enjoyed them as much as Ann and I have enjoyed putting them on.

future.
