Wow! Talk
about a full-on year. I guess anyone who has had any thing to do with committees
and running social clubs will know exactly what I mean. This last year (2006-2007), Ann and I were
running the
Cairns Rock And Roll Dance Club Inc
as Secretary and President It has been a very successful year from the club's viewpoint. When we got right into the books and counted all the bills etc. we found that the club was nearly $2000.00 in the red. But when we had the last committee meeting just before the AGM in November '07, there was over $3000.00 in the club's bank account. we had turned the club's finances around to the tune of $5000.00. It wasn't only Ann and I of course, we had the support of five of our very hard working friends on the committee and the support of all the club members, members who came to the club every week and attended the Bi-monthly dances that the club put on. As I said before, a very busy year. Our business hasn't had as much attention as we would've liked to give it and Ann and I are looking forward to getting right back into it and getting back into our dancing as well. It's amazing how much work there is behind the scenes to running a successful dance. You just don't get the time to enjoy yourself much on the dance floor. At the moment we are very busy updating the web site; the main change is that we are putting secure credit card payment facilities on there, which will make it a lot easier for customers looking to purchase our products. Hopefully we will have it up and running within the next three to four weeks. Look for it please! NEWS FLASH 31-12-07 1445. We have been enjoying being with our families over Christmas and this year we will be going to our family New Year's Eve party instead of running a dance for the club. There will be a live band and plenty of dancing of course. Ann and I would like to wish all our friends, customers and visitors to the site a happy and prosperous New Year.
